SUNDERLAND are reported to be ready to make a move for Everton defender Leighton Baines - 12 months after the player snubbed the Black Cats while a Wigan player.
The 23-year-old decided against a move to the Stadium of Light in favour of a switch to Goodison Park to join the club he supported as a boy.

But according to The Sun newspaper, Sunderland boss Roy Keane is ready to make a second bid and is said to be ready to match the £6m Everton paid for Baines last year.

Keane is still looking to add a left-back to his squad as the new Premier League season dawns this weekend.

He was reportedly in the market for Reading's Nicky Shorey before he agreed his move to Aston Villa, while West Ham's former Sunderland defender George McCartney rejected a move back to the north east.
