WET weather wasn't enough to dampen the spirits of North Tyneside youngsters who enjoyed outdoor fun and games at the borough's National Play Day event.
The theme of the day, held at the Rising Sun Country Park was "risky play".

Enthusiastic young adventurers got to try out a water slide, bouncy castles, inflatable golf and arts and crafts.

Elected Mayor John Harrison said: "Play is such an important part of childhood and helps youngsters to use their imagination, keep healthy and develop vital social and learning skills.

"The natural landscape of the Rising Sun Country Park is the perfect environment for children to run free, explore, and take risks in well managed outdoor surroundings."
