A LONG-SERVING Ringtons Tea worker and dozens of loyal customers raised a cuppa to toast his retirement after 42 years of deliveries around the borough.
Glynn Meredith commemorated his retirement by hosting a tea party, which was attended by almost 100 of his customers at Percy Park Rugby Club.

Mr Meredith joined the tea and coffee merchants in July 1966, and to this day he still delivers to some of the same people he visited on his very first round 42 years ago.

Ringtons divisional director Jon Malton said: "Two of the greatest things happened in our country in the summer of 1966: England won the World Cup, and Glynn Meredith joined our team here at Ringtons.

"He has been an asset to the business and his customers, and he will be a miss to us all. We would like to thank him for all his hard work and efforts."

Mr Meredith received many cards and gifts from well-wishers at the event, and his wife, Pamela was presented with a bouquet of flowers.
Guests enjoyed a lavish buffet and raffles for luxury hampers, and rounded off the event with a cup of Rington's finest.
