NEWS GUARDIAN reporter Tegan Chapman has been making the news herself after being recognised for her work within the community.
Tegan has been honoured by members of the Rotary Club of Monkseaton Centenary who awarded her Rotary International's prestigious Humanitarian Reporting Award.
The award is made annually to a professional journalist for outstanding achievement in the field of humanitarian-based news reporting.
She was presented with her award at a special meeting of the Rotary Club of Monkseaton Centenary at The Monkseaton Arms in Monkseaton.
Club president Tahir Rashid was delighted that Tegan could be recognised for her work.
He said "It is an honour for me to present this award to a young local reporter who has consistently reported upon many environmental and planning issues in Monkseaton and Whitley Bay which have greatly helped the general public to better understand issues affecting the built
environment."
Tegan was presented with a bound parchment certificate.
